While in law school, Mr. Gottel was a member of the ATLA Moot Court Team, which was awarded First Place and was selected into the Woolsack Honor Society for academic excellence. He was active in the law school’s Family Law Clinic representing indigent clients and also interned with the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office preparing and presenting preliminary hearings at various local District Courts. 

After graduating from law school, Mr. Gottel worked for a small firm in Chester County doing general civil litigation.  In 1999, he joined State Farm’s in-house counsel firm in Philadelphia where he successfully handled arbitrations and jury trials while maintaining a heavy caseload.  He completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy course and received training in discovery preparation at State Farm’s corporate headquarters.  

Mr. Gottel’s present practice concentrates on civil liability defense of auto and premises liability cases in addition to handling cases regarding allegations of civil rights violations.  Mr. Gottel represents a local school district in regard to special education claims under the IDEA as well as a local township and school district in regard to property tax assessment appeals.  Mr. Gottel has presented school district seminars, in addition to preparing and presenting continuing education classes and educational seminars for attorneys and clients.
